FOREIGN MINISTER SPEAKS ABOUT FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AT THE IACHR

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, Ricardo Patiño, attends, this afternoon, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC, to explain the Government's policy and progress regarding freedom of expression in Ecuador.

The Foreign Minister arrived to the U.S. capital last night from Mexico and on Tuesday he will lead the Ecuadorian delegation composed by the General Prosecutor, Diego Garcia, the Minister of Justice, Johana Pesantez, the President of the Constitutional Court (CC), Patricio Pazmino, the Public Defender, Ernesto Pazmino, the vowel of the Judicial Council of Transition, Tania Arias, as well as the Assembly member, Mauro Andino and the Secretary of Communication, Fernando Alvarado.
Minister Patiño will expose the principles of freedom of expression in Ecuador and the reforms proposed by the government of President Rafael Correa to the democratization of media. On the other hand, authorities will speak about legal issues such as: the Telecommunications Law, the Communications Bill, amendments to the constitutional control, among others.
