Filming in Ecuador
   

REQUIREMENTS FOR FILMING IN ECUADOR

1.- Send a formal request addressed to: “Secretario General de Comunicación de la Presidencia de la República, Mr. Fernando Alvarado, skating the pupose of yur Project, date and place.

2.- Send a copy of the script in Spanish for registration to the Coordination of Secretary of Communication of the Presidency of the Republic.

3.-Send a copy of the final production, using Betacam format SP (NTSC), ONE COPY IN vhs (ntcs) to the office mentioned above.

4.- Send a alist of the personnel that will come to Ecuador, including full names, nationality, passport numbers and photocopies of the picture page of each passport.

5.- Date, time and airline of arrival.

6.- list of equipement that will be used for the filming including serial number, characteristics, weight, model and make. Your representative of “fixer” in Ecuador prior to your arrival should deal with customs matters.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR FILMING IN THE GALAPAGOS ISLANDS.

Further to the above requirements you will need to submit a letter to the Director for Protected Areas of the Galapagos requesting authorization to film in the Archipielago, the National Park or the Marine Reserve.

E-mail requests are accepted and help to speed up procedures, but in terms of the final authorization, the letter has to be presented via regular mail or fax.

The application should include:

  1. Full script and objectives of the film
  2. Full list of staff members, positions and passport numbers. Also detail of the equipment to be used.
  3. Itinerary and detail information of travel arrangements (flights, ships, buses, cars, etc.)
  4. Name of the person who represents the group in Ecuador.
  5. Name of the company who finances or support the filming project.
  6. Name of the person who will be guiding the group.
  7. Duration of the film.

Once this information is received (you can send it by e-mail) the project will be analyzed by the Technical Committee of DAPG, which decides whether to approve or not the application. If the application is accepted, the Committee will qualify the film by its category (commercial, scientific or educational) this determines the costs of the application. Once the analysis has been made, the applicant will be informed immediately if the application was accepted.
